About Me

After completing an HND in 3D Design, I became very interested in the techniques involved in forming and shaping metal. I undertook a degree course in Silversmithing and Jewellery at Glasgow School of Art and, after graduating, I was accepted to spend a 2 year residency at Bishopsland Educational Trust. I developed my skills further at The Royal College of Art, where I graduated in 2002 with an MA in Silversmithing and I have settled at Kingsgate Workshops in West Hampstead where I create jewellery and large silversmithing pieces. As well as designing and making my own work, I teach at several learning centres and have also returned to Bishopsland as a course tutor.

My Work

My aim is to create visually challenging pieces which retain their functionality. I am concerned with the balance of the object and also the space around and within it. My range of vases employ very simple, clean designs that juxtapose and yet enhance the organic nature of the flowers being displayed which although sit gracefully within the vase, are rigidly controlled as to their position, size and quantity.
I also like to challenge our traditional expectation for these objects to sit motionless and inert on a flat surface by introducing movement to the pieces, whether they rock, hang or float on water.
